My Specialist Areas Of Health
I support a range of health concerns, with a particular focus on these key areas:

-
Menstrual Health: Support for conditions like PCOS, endometriosis, adenomyosis, dysmenorrhea (period pain), and more. Many women have come to normalize their pain or cycle irregularities. I work one-on-one to help women understand their cycles and reduce uncomfortable symptoms.

-
Gut Health: Relief for digestive issues, including bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhoea, and heartburn. These concerns often tie closely to diet and lifestyle. By taking a deep dive into daily habits, I aim to make reasonable adjustments so clients experience less digestive discomfort and reduce chronic issues.

-
Mental Health: Holistic support for stress, anxiety, and depression. Chronic stress is a major contributor to disease. I work with clients to develop manageable strategies for stress relief, incorporating lifestyle changes and, when beneficial, supplement support.

-
Hormonal Balance: Guidance through peri- and post-menopausal changes. This transition often leaves women feeling unsupported or unheard. With targeted dietary and lifestyle adjustments, there are many ways to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life.

-
Thyroid Health: Management of conditions like hypothyroidism. Nutritional deficiencies, such as low iodine, are prevalent in Australia and can significantly impact thyroid health. Ensuring adequate intake of key nutrients like zinc and selenium is also crucial for thyroid function.

-
Vaginal Health: Addressing issues like candida/thrush and vaginitis. The vaginal pH range is narrow (3.8–4.5), and imbalances can lead to discomfort. Major hormonal shifts, such as those during pregnancy or menopause, are common triggers for recurring vaginal concerns.
Functional Tests Available
During your initial consultation, I’ll review any previous tests you’ve had, such as blood tests, ultrasounds, and specialist reports. This helps me gain a clear understanding of your health journey and identify any potential gaps.

As a naturopath, I can refer you for additional testing if needed, including the following:
-
CoBiome Gut Microbiome: This is the gold standard of gut microbiome testing, using advanced metagenomic sequencing to analyze over 28,000 microbial species and their functions. Prices start at $369, depending on the level of detail required.
-
Vaginal Microbiome: Recommended for women with chronic vaginal symptoms like recurring thrush, candida, or bacterial infections such as BV. This swab test provides a thorough analysis of both beneficial and disruptive organisms, including bacteria, viruses, parasites, and yeasts.
-
Blood Tests: In many cases, I’ll provide a preferred list of blood tests to discuss with your GP. While I can refer you for blood tests, these come at an additional cost. However, for unique or specialized blood tests, I may arrange them directly.

While a wide range of functional tests is available, these three are the most common in my practice. For those with chronic or unresolved symptoms, these options provide valuable insights to help uncover underlying issues.

FAQs
What to expect in the initial consultation? Allow 90 minutes for the consultation and additional time with the administration team for payment and collection of herbs/supplements (if required). The appointment will include a thorough case history regarding the presenting health issue/s, a review of diet and lifestyle aspects, stress and environment/social contributions.
Do I need to bring anything to the appointment? If you have had any recent tests, please bring a copy of the results or email them prior to your appointment (wecanhelp@wildabouthealth.com.au). It will save time tracking these down after the appointment. In addition, take photos of any medications or supplements you are currently taking or bring them with you. Please fill in the New Client Form and Health Questionnaire attached in the welcome email, occasionally this email goes to your junk or spam folder.
Is a naturopath the same as a nutritionist? A naturopath and nutritionist view the patient in a similar way, both are holistic and multidimensional. Both modalities incorporate diet, lifestyle, and nutritional supplementation as part of the treatment recommendations. A naturopath, in addition to this, can also use herbal medicine as part of the treatment, whilst not always required it is a useful tool to have. Teaching my patients how to eat for long-term health is one of my passions. As a society, we are often ‘yo-yoing’ between different fad diets that are not sustainable.
